Behind the Label...

Staying in the Family

After the highs of the 1960s, Napa Valley couple Charlie and Lorna Wagner shared their ambitious vision with their 19-year-old son, Chuck, inviting him to join them in tending their 70-acre farm. Their dream wasn’t just to grow grapes, but to launch a commercial wine business.

By October 1971,

Caymus Vineyards was born as a true family venture. With only a small number of wineries in operation at the time, Caymus began as a lean operation, reusing Charlie Wagner’s home winemaking barrels to age their wines.

For the next 30 years,

Until Charlie and Lorna's passing, the trio brought their dream of producing Napa Cabernet to life. Today, Chuck continues the legacy alongside two of his children and a dedicated team of winemakers.

More Than Just a Brand -

The Caymus name is so renowned that it often overshadows a key fact about the winery: even after five decades of success, it remains family-owned.

Tasting Notes

Caymus showcases its signature style with a deep, dark color and bold fruit flavors. Aromas of black cherry and blueberry set the stage for a rich, dense Cabernet. Notes of crushed black fruit preserves, eucalyptus, and sweet spice come together, while the smooth tannins offer the texture wine lovers crave in a Napa Cabernet!
