Champagne Jeeper’s name and legacy are rooted in resilience and reinvention. After returning from World War II, Armand Goutorbe—son of a Champagne grower—set out to rebuild his life among the vines of Faverolles-et-Coëmy, near Reims.

To navigate the steep, rugged terrain of the Champagne countryside, he acquired a Willys Jeep from the U.S. Army—an unexpected but essential companion in his daily work. Embracing the nickname it inspired, he officially named his Champagne house Jeeper in tribute.

What began as a modest postwar endeavor has since grown into a boutique producer known for its elegant, Chardonnay-driven cuvées and a progressive approach to sustainable winemaking.

Champagne Jeeper honors Armand’s adventurous spirit while continuing to craft refined, expressive wines that are enjoyed around the world.

Over the Years...

1949

Since its founding in 1949, Champagne Jeeper has evolved from a humble postwar project into a modern, internationally recognized house. Under the leadership of Armand Goutorbe, the brand established its roots in Faverolles-et-Coëmy, with a focus on quality and innovation. The name—born from the Jeep that helped Armand tend to his vineyards—quickly became a symbol of resilience and originality.

2009-2013

The 21st century brought new energy and vision. In 2009, the estate was revitalized under new ownership, and in 2013, it gained further momentum with the support of Michel Reybier, known for his involvement in luxury hospitality and wine. This era marked a shift toward sustainable viticulture, oak aging, and refined cuvées that now garner international acclaim.

Today

Today, Champagne Jeeper produces around 350,000 bottles annually and maintains a growing global presence with offices in the U.S. and Japan—proof that a bold name and a good story can still rise to the top, so long as the Champagne inside lives up to it.
